Akepa and Apapane Upcountry

While it may look as though this is nearly complete, it has quite a ways to go. The original is being done with watercolor and acrylic on 140" watercolor paper. It measures 16.25" x 20.25". Birds on the left are the Akepa, on the right are the Apapane. Both are rare and endangered and live at about 5 to 6,000 feet elevation on the volcano known as Haleakala on the island of Maui in the Hawaiian chain.
